SAND CREEK SEA LIONS SWIM TEAM COACH JOB DESCRIPTION:  

The primary goal of the Sand Creek Swim Team is to offer a fun and competitive summer swim program to the youth (ages 5 to 18) of Sand Creek and neighboring communities in the Kingwood area.  The coaches’ key objectives are to aid swimmers in mastering strokes, setting and achieving goals, practicing good sportsmanship & developing confidence through swimming.   

Position will require:  

• Active participation throughout swim season (approximately May through early July).  

• Willingness to obtain necessary safety and sport related certifications as required.  

• Leading swimmers through all aspects of the competitive sport of swimming, including, skill development, endurance training, starts, flip turns and relay exchanges.  

• Working with volunteer parents to prepare facilities and organize swimmers for practices and meets.  

• Participation throughout entire swim meet, including set up, warm-ups, practice starts, all events, take down, etc.  

• Working with parent volunteers to prepare meet rosters and relay assignments to balance fair participation and competitive strategy.  

• Inspiring swimmers to enjoy the sport of swimming, foster team spirit, good sportsmanship and encouragement of teammates.  The social aspect of the team is achieved through fun activities and practices.  Coaches will teach and lead team cheers and partner with Booster volunteers to facilitate team pep rallies throughout the season.  

Required of All Applicants:  

• Must be a high school graduate, or graduating during the active swim season  

• Must have extensive competitive swimming experience Preferred:  

• Former swimmer of the Sand Creek Swim Team o Prior coaching/mentoring experience o Experience working with children
