SCSL - Red and Black meet info
Hello Sea Lions!!
Our first week of spring practice has been busy and fun (if a little cold some days!). It was great to welcome back all our Sea Lion swimmers and see so many new families too. Big thanks and recognition go to Kim Kelley for running our practice this week and to the teen and adult volunteers who supported Kim, in and out of the water.
Coaches - the majority of our coaches are with us now and will be at the Red/Black meet on Saturday. Be sure to read their profiles on the website and get to know your Age Group coach.
Red/Black Meet Time Trials – Sand Creek Pool; Saturday May 9th, Circle In (Check In) Time is 7:00 AM. This means that as soon as you get to the meet, swimmers must go to the main check-in table to let us know you are there. Once checked-in you head to your age group area where an age group parent will sign you in (yes, again!) and write the numbers of the events you will be swimming on your arm. Warm ups start between 7:30 and 7:45. Kids begging for candy starts at 7:50 (you have been warned!). All swimmers have been divided into Team Red or Team Black and this has been posted at the pool. Everyone will swim every event for their age group as they must have a time for the start of the season. Remember to bring extra towels, warm clothes, spare pair of goggles, sunscreen, drinks and snacks. If you are new to swim team, the Redbook has lots of good information about swim meets and the running of the team.
Parking – if you are driving, please park at Deerwood Elementary and walk to the pool on the greenbelt. It’s about a 5 minute walk. If you are biking, we will have the bike racks moved street level in a parking spot. .
Swim Suits, Caps & Goggles – suits, t-shirts and caps will be distributed at the pool on Friday 4:30 to 6:30 pm and Saturday from 7:15 am to noon. We will also have yard signs, car decals, tattoos and goggles to purchase.
Pep Rally - before every home meet, we have a Pep Rally on Friday night at the Sand Creek Pool from 6-8 pm. Bring your snacks, drinks. There will be swimming and the coaches have some fun activities lined up for the kids in the water. The swimmers can also show off their posters for the Red/Black meet which they are encouraged to make at home and bring to the Pep Rally on Friday.
Arf! Arf!
