Coaches notes
Great Job this past weekend!
We've had a few questions about how the relay teams are built so I want to explain that this week. Relays are put together by the coaches each week. We base our decisions on seed time. The seed time we use is the fastest official meet time that swimmer has earned. Times earned at the red/black meet do not count for this. Those times are not official and act as a place holder to start the season off. Only times recorded at a dual meet are official. We look at all possible relay combinations to come up with the fastest time for the relay team. We do our best to allow every swimmer we can the opportunity to swim on a relay. So sometimes we shuffle relays to allow other swimmers this opportunity and not have the same relays every week. That being said, the majority of our decision is based strictly on seed times.

I'm very happy with how well the swimmers did at the meet this past weekend, especially given the practices missed due to poor weather. We had a lot of time dropped, and a lot of qualifications reached! That being said, there's always room for improvement. This week we will be specifically working on stroke technique and strength development. I look forward to seeing how everyone does at the meet this weekend and let's hope for good weather this week! ARF ARF!

Hello to all! Awesome meet Sea Lions! The swimmers continue to improve immensely in their races, both technique and time wise. Although we were missing kids due to the holiday weekend, those that were there all stepped up and did their best. Let’s keep encouraging our swimmers to continue to give 100% this week at practice, and I look forward to our upcoming meet against Greentree. Arf Arf!

The kids swam really fast this past weekend! We had kess DQs and the breaststroke form looked much improved from last week. To get ready for This weekend we're going to focus on kicking. Lots of the kids will begin to think too much about their technique and lose power in the legs. Putting together the technique with the continuous power from the legs should mean for a great meet this Saturday! Can't wait to see how the swimmers do, ARF ARF!!

I hope everyone had a fun Memorial Day weekend, and didn't have their plans messed up because of the flood! Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate last week and we weren't able to practice what we had planned, but hopefully this week will go better and we can get some good practices in! We'll be focusing on our backstroke and diving this week. I saw a lot of swimmers drop time, even without practicing much this past week, and look forward to this weekend where I expect to see even more improvements! Improvements come in all different forms, and even if their time doesn't seem to be dropping immensely, they are all becoming better swimmers, and we're excited to see them improve even more as the season comes to a close.
