Eagle Spring Meet Information for tomorrow 6/9/2018 - Home Meet
Sea Lions,
Before giving you the meet information for tomorrow I just want to take a minute to tell you how proud I am of this team and the way the Sea Lion community has pulled together. Our shirts say “Sea Lion Strong” and it is something I believe in more and more as the season progresses.
Largely due to the effects of Harvey, just a couple of weeks before the start of the season we only had about 140 swimmers registered and were worried we might not be able to support the cost of the awesome group of coaches we had hired for this year. We started recruiting hard. You guys pulled together, recruited over 200 swimmers and Sea Lions in Training.
Today we have 196 swimmers, and at this late point in the season we have 190 of you who have registered for the meet tomorrow. That is an incredible 97% participation in our final home meet! Some of the kids that aren’t here are doing important things like working on missions trips, so pretty much 100%! I have never seen this kind of dedication and participation! You guys rock!
Finally, thank you to all of our long standing and new sponsors that stepped up to make sure we were able to support our community with a fun, competitive atmosphere and keep our registration costs within a reasonable range, and maintain the equipment we need.
So stinking proud of this team #SeaLionsStrong.
Target is 225 swimmers next year. Start recruiting. 270 is our stretch target. Arf! Arf!
Now for the meet information:
It will be hot! Forecast is 92 with only a 5-10% chance of rain through about 2:00 PM when the chances start to go up to 25% around 3:00. We are targeting being done with the meet by 2:15, but this is a huge meet and could run longer. We will have plenty of water, drinks and sno cones for sale to cool you down.
Registered Swimmers:
Sand Creek 190/196
Eagle Springs 296/357
Total Swimmers 486
Parking/Traffic
The Sand Creek Village Community Pool is at 3021 Timber Shade Drive.
We will have a police officer on duty to assist with parking and traffic. His name is Captain Rolf Nelson and he is a great help to our team. We will also have officer David Jasper helping out due to the larger than normal crowd.
Parents can drop off swimmers at the pool on Timber Shade, but we recommend they park at Deerwood Elementary School which is at 2920 Forest Garden Drive
We are opening up parking on one side of Timber Shade, which makes it imperative that parents comply with the no parking signs on the other side of the street.
From Deerwood Elementary, the Sand Creek pool is just a short walk on the greenbelt trails.
Our Homeowners Association is very strict on parking, please pay attention to the no parking signs and where the signs do end, please do not park on both sides of the street.
oThis is something we actively work at to stay in the good graces of the HOA, so anything you can do to communicate this to your team is greatly appreciated!
Setup
Normal Set Up area for the Sea Lions to the right and behind the playground as you are facing the pool entrance.
Our equipment team will open up the pool around 5:45 AM. We do not recommend setting up tents the night before. Unfortunately this is a bad year for stickers in the grass. Recommend kids bring flip flops and it's not a bad idea to lay down tarps if you have them.
Our swimmers will primarily use the back gate to enter the pool and go to the ready bench. Since Eagle Springs will primarily use the front entrance please use the back entrance as much as you can
Safety
There is an automatic emergency phone outside the building and a phone just inside the gate if we need to call for emergency responders. Our lifeguards will have first responsibility for first aid. We also have a first aid kit in the Sea Lions storage area. There is an AED on site inside the lifeguard’s closet.
Volunteers
Check in at the volunteer desk to get your lanyard
Officials and Coaches
Please remember to bring your NWAL badges.
Concessions
We will have our concession stand available – full breakfast and lunch menus will be available, along with sno-cones and other snacks and drinks. Chick-Fil-A biscuits $3 and sandwiches $4 will be available in addition to our normal offerings and they are on call to bring more to make sure we do not run out of food.
